HP Vivera premium ink cartrdiges: Will you pay extra for "premium" ink?
HP isn't so happy about the competition from third-party ink cartridges (like the ones widely available on eBay) and so have decided on another strategy: try and convince people that they need to buy "premium" ink cartridges rather than take a chance on generic brands. They've just launched their new Vivera premium brand of ink carts which are priced between $20 and $35 and only work with newer HP printers. HP claims that the Vivera line can speed up printing (we don't see how), reduce cost per print, and preserve a printed photo for up to 115 years. They're not the only ones adopting a similar strategy, with both Epson and Lexmark pitching premium inks to their customers.
