Thomson backs HD-DVD
It's tit for tat these days in the battle between HD-DVD and Blu-ray over which disc format will get to be the high-definition successor to the DVD. Yesterday Disney announced it was getting behind blu-ray, now Thomson, which markets their electronics under the RCA brand name here in the States, says that they're placing their bets on HD-DVD and will be introducing a line of HD-DVD players by the end of next year. They are hedging that bet just a little bit; even though they're only planning to release HD-DVD
players, they are going to manufacture both Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs.
