T-Mobile + Nextel? It could happen...

Sprint and Nextel might be engaged, but they ain't hitched yet, so there's still time for another suitor to win Nextel's heart, or at least to make a better offer. There's no way it'd be Cingular, since they've got enough on the plate already with their recent acquisition of AT&T Wireless, and Verizon seems to only have eyes for Sprint, which leaves only T-Mobile. Not that they've given any indication one way or the other, but Banc of America seems to think that it's still possible for T-Mobile to make a play for Nextel, especially since it'd help give them some of that national spectrum they need and a bigger presence in the business market, but the biggest reason they seem to think T-Mobile might do it is that if they don't they'll risk being the smallest player in an extremely competitive market dominated by a bunch of newly-merged heavyweights. And you know how those things usually turn out.
