Samsung announces a whole mess of new phones

Maybe we should have put "announces" in quotation marks, since they didn't really provide any details about specific models let alone anything remotely concrete like prices or release dates), but Samsung revealed that they're going to introduce somewhere around 25 or 30 phones in the US this year. Here's the executive summary:

  • A handset with speech-to-text capabilities that'll let you speak a message and have it converted into a text
    message or email.

  • A two megapixel cameraphone and a five megapixel cameraphone with a 3x optical zoom lens (which sounds
like a US version of the
    SCH-S250).

  • A two megapixel cameraphone with a QVGA (320x240) display.

  • A new line of handsets compatible with high-speed EV-DO networks.

  • A video-on-demand device that'll each let you wirelessly stream content to a handset. There're also be a
music-on-demand device that'll do basically the same thing.

  • A mess of phones with Bluetooth (no surprise there!).

  • Several handsets with built-in WiFi.

  • And lastly, some phones with built-in BlackBerry email technology.

In case you glossed over it, this bears repeating: they're planning to introduce a five megapixel cameraphone here in the States.
