LG demos Microsoft-powered DVR

If you ask us, the highlight of
Bill Gates's CES keynote was probably his stilted clowning with Conan O'Brien, or maybe the schadenfreude-inducing Xbox/blue-screen-of-death demo. However, Bill did actually manage to roll out some new products, including the first DVR/DVD recorder based on Microsoft's DVR software
(it's actually a thin client version of Windows Media Center, if you must know). The LG LRM-519, expected to be out by the fall of this year, includes all of the usual DVR features, and is also able to connect to a wired or wireless home network to share data with Windows XP and Media Center PCs. Obviously, this thing is still several months away, but if it works as advertised, it may well be enough to wipe that post-keynote smirk off of our face.
