Paag's BEX-1 earthquake bed

Japan's Paag Co. will soon be selling the BEX-1, a shelter bed that is supposed to protect during an earthquake.   The stylish bit of steel-reinforced furniture has a headboard that swings up to deflect falling objects and bottom sideboards that open so you crawl under it. The only thing we can't tell is whether this thing automatically swings into action during an earthquake or if you have to operate it yourself.
