JamPlug FM turns radios into guitar amps
The JamPlug FM is a small device (3.5 x 1.2 x 1.8 inches) that plugs into the output jack of a guitar or bass and transmits the audio signal as FM, to be picked up by any nearby FM receiver. This will turn any stereo into an on-demand practice amp — but bear in mind the quality limitation factor inherent with FM. This won't be replacing our Marshall stack anytime soon, but it would be easier than carting around a practice amp while travelling. The jury's still out on the sound quality factor since it won't ship til April 8, but if it's not horrendously hissy, it could be worth the $50 pricetag. There's no reason this wouldn't work with a portable audio device with a built-in FM radio, as well, making it a quick and dirty private practice device. We do worry that there are only six built-in frequencies to choose from, as those in major metropolitan areas might be out of luck if all six are (likely) occupied.
