Samsung SGH-p207 speech-to-text phone now available

We peeped this phone at CES this year, and now the Samsung SGH-p207 is on sale starting today via the Cingular web site. As noted previously, it's a tri-band phone with EDGE,
internal 262K TFT display inside/65K external, and IM functionality. It's also sporting a VGA camera with video — not terribly exciting — but what is exciting is that this phone supports speech-to-text capability. The built-in VoiceMode technology means you can dictate text messages instead of keying them into the phone — thumbs everywhere, rejoice! It doesn't need any sort of training to get going, although it continues to adapt to your voice with usage. The promise of speech-to-text has so far largely remained just that — a promise — so we're pretty curious to see how the p207 handles in this regard. It's available now for $79 from Cingular online.
