Clear Channel to offer programming via cellphone
Clear Channel is looking at the cellphone as its new distribution darling in an effort to re-invigorate the traditional radio business. They plan to begin offering program clips via mobiles by as early as the end of this year.
No word on which carrier or carriers will be offering the service — all we know is that Clear Channel is "talking to a lot" of US carriers. They'll offer snippets of their originally produced shows, local weather and traffic, but significantly — no music. Think they decided trying to work with the RIAA wasn't worth the hassle?
