Batterylife Activator for rechargeables actually diminishes battery life
Tom's Hardware took a look at the Batterylife Activator for rechargeables, which promises to breathe new life into the aging batteries in your mobile devices as they lose the ability to store charge over time. The "technology"
essentially involves covering 80 percent of the surface of the battery with a "special" piece of foil, then take it through a couple of handfuls of charge cycles, after which the battery life is supposed to be noticeably longer. Sounds like snake oil, you say? It is. Tom's ran it through testing on a couple of different notebooks with aging batteries and found that overall, after applying the Batterylife Activator, they actually got about 17 percent less
charge out of the battery as they had previously. So, if you've had any thoughts about shelling out that $52 for the notebook version or $15 for the mobile "activator" — save your clams a little longer and just buy a new battery for your device.
