Hands on with the Archos AV700 portable media powerhouse

We're not really surprised some Frenchies got to hang with the new
Archos AV700 before anyone else—they are, afterall, a French company—but we have to hand it to them for taking all those pics for us. So what do we have? Well, a 7-inch 16:9 screen, for starters, a 40 or 100GB drive, MPEG-4, DivX, and WMV with DRM support, and USB 2.0 On-The-Go, which will enable a number of possible peripherals, including a mentioned DibCom-collaboration for a DVB-T receiver. They're claiming some hefty launch prices of €599 for the 40GB and €899 for the 100GB versions ($766 and $1,150, respectively),
but who knows whether we'll be able to coerce Echostar to help subsidize this with a new service contract? Probably not, so don't get your hopes up, skippy.
