AirTunes for iTunes to get remote control?

So you may be rocking a remote connection to your stereo from iTunes via
AirTunes, but you've still gotta use iTunes to control playback. The latest iTunes 4.8 upgrade contains an error message that's a potential harbinger of a possible change to that: if you've got a firewall configured and you fire up version 4.8, you'll get a message saying "...using a firewall software prevents you from... using a remote control for AirTunes." Remote control, wha? You know Apple is all tight-lipped about this sort of stuff so it's hard to say for sure, but it's hard to interpret this as anything other than some sort of update to Airport Express/AirTunes including a remote control.
