Nintendo Revolution to run DIY code?

There's a bit of interesting info buried inside the press release for the
Nintendo Revolution, that seems to imply they might be giving DIY developers some freedom to run homebrew code: "Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game 'masterpieces' as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea." They make it a small point, and Nintendo sure hasn't been talking up this aspect — but if there's any truth to it, this could be a fairly big move in the gaming console world, to start with an intentionally open platform right off the bat (as opposed to waiting for all the brilliant hackers to inevitably tear your console to shreds, anyway...).
