Gateway introduces 840GM, 835GM, and 831GM dual core-powered Media Center PCs
Gateway introduced a new line of
dual core-powered Media Center PCs today, which it says are the first such PCs to be available at retailers. All the systems come loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and use BTX
chassis. The top of the line model is the Gateway 840GM, retailing for $1049.99, which has a 3.0GHz Intel Pentium D 830 dual core processor, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (533MHz), Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 integrated graphics,
16x double-layer multi-format DVD+/-RW optical drive, DVD-ROM and a 250GB SATA hard drive. It also comes equipped with 7.1 audio capabilities, three IEEE 1394 ports and seven USB 2.0 ports (Hubs? We don't need no stinkin'
hubs). In the middle is the 835GM, retailing for $849.99, which steps things down to a 2.8GHz Intel Pentium D
820 dual core processor, but has the same Intel GMA 950 graphics, 1GB DDR SDRAM, 250GB SATA hard drive, and double layer 16X DVD+/-RW multi-format drive. And at the bottom end is the $700 835GM, which has a 3.0GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor 630 with Hyper-Threading, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 250GB SATA hard drive, double layer 16X DVD+/-RW
multi-format drive, and Intel GMA 900 Graphics.
