Skype holding hands with Boingo

There is a certain logic to companies with names like Skype partnering with companies with names like Boingo. But it does seem a little odd that Skype would partner with a specific WiFi vendor to push Skype service when clearly any old flavor of WiFi will do to place a Skype call — and neither company has been forthcoming with any details on the nature of their arrangement yet. On the other hand, it also looks like Boingo Wireless has been talking with handset makers about WiFi phones, and perhaps Skype wants to make sure it's their software that gets integrated. Whatever happens, we hope it's not a merger in which the Skype-Boingo kids get names like Moon Unit and Diva Muffin. Anything but that.
