The 55LP1D, LG's 55-inch LCD TV

They've been teasing us with this thing for going on a year now, but LG finally showed off a production version of the 55LP1D, that new 55-inch LCD HDTV they're going to introduce this fall. It's got some pretty decent specs for an oversized LCD TV: 1080p (resolution is 1920 x 1080),
178-degree viewing angle, 1200:1 contrast ratio, a brightness of 500 cd/m², and DVI (with
HDCP, which means it won't be obsolete when the industry starts getting lame on us). We managed to gaze longingly at one during
LG's boat ride yesterday, and it was surprisingly crisp for an LCD TV of that size.
