EchoStar offering 10 years of free satellite TV to any town! As long as it's named DISH.

We've seen goofy promotions and we've seen
goofy promotions, but this — this is one goofy ass promotion. EchoStar is offering free equipment, installation and 10 years' worth of satellite TV programming to the town that votes to change its name to DISH. Though the idea isn't completely unprecedented (Halfway, Oregon changed its name to Half.com for 60 grand and 20 computers — cities going cheap these days!), the move is more about promoting brand recognition than a desire to spread satellite TV to the huddled masses. Still, you've got until November 1 to get all civic minded and drop in on that next Town Hall meeting, slackers.

[Thanks, Dave]
