New Hitachi TVs surface online

Well it looks like the new Hitachi TVs we previously reported are nothing more than corporate recycling. The "new" Hitachi's are simply an older CRT rear projection series wrapped in silver. They even included the old remote! They stripped down the TV by taking out advanced features like VirtualHD and the ability to fine tune the convergence. Even though the TV has no tuner like we expected, it doesn't look like to be a bad value.

A person can get a great 51-inch Hitachi that is built on great, proven parts for $1079 from Circuit City. Sure, the TV has no tuner at all but if you have satellite or digital cable, so what? Many times when manufactures use old parts in new TVs, it doesn't work out. This time though, we feel that Hitachi has found a happy medium.
