The Canadians up at the appropriately named Brightside Technologies have created what they claim is the "World's First Extreme Dynamic Range Display." How extreme? We're talking about a 200,000:1
contrast ratio here, people. The DR37-P is actually capable of creating a pure black pixel, making the true ratio infinite. It also shows an amazing 16-bits of color by layering a traditional 8-bit LCD onto of an array of LED backlights. The 37-inch display has 1920 x 1080 of those sexy little pixels and accepts
all the normal connections, including DVI.
Too bad the bezel is large enough to noticeably alter the gravitational make-up of your living room. The price for all this contrasty goodness is similarly large at $45,000 US.
