Alienware's first AMD Athlon notebook, the Aurora m7700

Lest we forget that gaming is still their forte, Alienware introduced another tricked-out laptop today in addition to the more budget-minded Sentia m3200 that we just brought you. The new Aurora m7700 is a 17-inch desktop-replacement with the distinction of of being Alienware's first notebook to sport AMD Athlon processors (either the 64 FX or dual-core 64 X2). As is standard with most of their products, the m7700 is available in numerous configurations, but the base model ships with 256MB SDRAM (upgrade number one: two more gigs), NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 graphics card (upgrade number two: GeForce 7800), 16:10 1440 x 900 WideXGA+
display (upgrade number three: 1900 x 1200 WideUXGA), dual hard drives (in RAID 0 or 1 configurations), 7-in-1 memory card reader, and choice of optical drives. Preorders are starting now, with a "bare bones" setup going for $2160, but expect to drop a little more loot if you want to get your system really humming (ours is gonna cost $4990, warranty not included).
