The MMOFPS could be our next great obsession

Game Ogre recently weighed in on the potential for a breakout MMOFPS. To date, the genre is relatively untouched* and could add a spark to, what some see as a staling, massively multiplayer online scene. In other words, transplant the huge FPS payer-base into the MMO club. Judging from the success of online FPS multiplayer, graduating to the next level, that is, moving from deathmatch maps to a full-on universe seems like a no-brainer. For now, all eyes are on Webzen's Huxley, whose success will likely determine the future of the MMOFPS genre.

*We know, there's PlanetSide, but it's failed to garner mass appeal.
