1up says PSP to outsell DS in 2006
1up.com is not exactly known for their hard-hitting research and analysis, but they've gone ahead and released the results of their 2006 gamer survey anyway. The gianormous press release reveals all kinds of
questionable interesting data. The specific points that the PSP fanboys will care about most include:
- The PSP's apparent ability to help drive the overall growth of the portable market.
According to 1up, 45% of respondents plan to buy a new handheld console this year.
- The fact that the PSP is about to open up a tallboy can of whup-ass on the DS. 36% of
Sony employees
respondents plan to buy a PSP while 28% will opt for a DS. No number was given for gamers that might go both ways.
Who exactly are all these mysterious respondents? According to the survey, "the average 1UP.com user is a hardcore gamer, owning 57 videogames and 18 PC games and spending 21 hours per week playing videogames."
