Massively tours Final Fantasy XI's latest version update pt. 2

You can help Chaperix by equipping him with temporary items, changing his job, completing quests for other moblins, and so forth. For example, the character "Smashlix" wants Chaperix to go down into a room and smash boxes while defeating monsters. Once you do that, Chaperix will gain experience and level up. With the items you find, you can equip Chaperix with new weapons and other assorted goodies.

The true test comes at the end, however, when Chaperix must defeat the boss without your help. Sadly I wasn't so lucky, and Chaperix died just as the boss was at 2% life. It was a close match, and I really thought Chaperix was going to win, but a few poorly timed critical hits decided that this was just not his fight. Rest in peace, little buddy. We'll try again another day.

"If you're an FFXI player and have never tried MMM, then I really suggest you try it."

Moblin Maze Mongers offers challenges, experience, new objectives, and items. You can tailor the missions to exactly your specifications thanks to maze runes and maze vouchers. If you're an FFXI player and have never tried MMM, then I really suggest you try it. It's alot of fun for any type of player and it's certain to provide a different perspective on FFXI.

Player events, now with more moogle

Lastly, the developer assisted player events were showcased during the dev tour. This new option allows players to request moogles disguised as, well, almost anything, and have those moogles appear at certain places in the game. The moogles are able to respond with a set message when clicked on, making them a bit interactive.

One of the things that was stressed was that the player run event needs to remain the focus — this new feature simply assists players with certain aspects of the event. Say, for example, you want to set up a chocobo race across Vana'diel, but want to make sure no one cheats. You could set up moogles at certain checkpoints, each with a special phrase that must be told to you at the finish line. This way you, the event coordinator, can be sure that the players visited all of the checkpoints.

By themselves, the ability to place these disguised moogles throughout Vana'diel isn't a fascinating feature, but I'm sure that some inventive players will be able to make some really neat events with them. It all comes down to imagination, something that many FFXI players have loads of.

And that's your version update of the day

The last version update for FFXI provided a brand new expansion pack, new additions to Moblin Maze Mongers, new monsters, augmentation systems for 50+ and level 75 weapons, added campaign missions, extended the Wings of the Goddess missions, and player event support. Needless to say, it was on the level that all FFXI updates are on — simply huge. It will be a while for everyone to pour through the content introduced in this expansion, but all of it is well done and worth the time put in.
