WoW Insider reviews the WoW TCG Icecrown Epic Collection
So what's in this plus-size box?
- 6 Icecrown booster packs (19 cards each)
- playmat with rubberized bottom
- 15 dividers
- deck box with sidebar divider
- 1 common loot card
- 5 foil hero cards
But is it worth the money? Let's take a look.%Gallery-105935%
What makes the Epic Collection appealing isn't just fancy art — it's the fact that the box contains everything you need to play the game and store and organize your card collection. The box is tough and functions both as the retail box and, once you crack everything open, a fully-functional storage box. The dividers provided in the collection let you keep everything sorted inside, even if the Epic Collection is your first set of WoW TCG cards. The playmat, with some neat Tirion vs. Arthas art, has a grippy rubber bottom that stays in place as you play. And, of course, there are six booster packs inside — coincidentally, the same number of packs provided for sealed-deck tournaments.
What matters to the consumer, of course, is value. The Icecrown Epic Collection retails for $34.99 (not $39.99, as stated in the video above), and the fact is that the cost of items inside the box, purchased separately, retail for much more than that.
- Icecrown booster packs: $3.99 x 6 = $23.94
- Playmat: $12.00
- Deck box (without WoW art): ~$5
Not counting the official dividers (which aren't available to the public at all), the long box, foil cards, extended-art cards and loot cards, even just the main pieces in the Epic Collection already cost more separate than inside the box. If you're a fan of the TCG or just looking to get started, an Icecrown Epic Collection gives you fantastic bang for your buck.
