2015 ushers in new App Store records
The lights are wound and tossed in the garage, the tree is headed for the landfill, and it's time to get down to business for the year... but not before Apple raves about how much money it made during the holidays! The company is celebrating a massive accomplishment today with the news that January 1st, 2015 was the single biggest sales day in App Store history.
"This year is off to a tremendous start after a record-breaking year for the App Store and our developer community," Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue notes in the company's announcement. "We're so proud of the creativity and innovation developers bring to the apps they create for iOS users and that the developer community has now earned over $25 billion."
$25 billion is a lot no matter what way you slice it, but it's even more impressive when you consider that tomorrow is just the 8th anniversary of the announcement of the iPhone itself. That's some seriously impressive growth.
