Streaming services, E ink tablets, Indie games
- Before his career in journalism, Ian worked at a talent management company writing coverage of screenplays and novels, which has given him a unique perspective on how content is developed for streaming services.
- Ian has reviewed a variety of different products, including the first Google Pixel Watch, Amazon's Kindle Scribe, and the original Oppo Find N foldable.
- While it started as a work assignment, Ian is now obsessed with note-taking apps and gadgets, spanning the gamut from Obsidian to Boox's various E Ink tablets.
Experience
Ian Carlos Campbell has written about consumer technology for over five years, and followed the industry as a fan for at least a decade before that. As a Contributing Reporter at Engadget, Ian covers everything from the latest Instagram update to government speech regulation, but he's particularly interested in the way technology changes the way film and television are made and enjoyed. Prior to working at Engadget, Ian was an Associate Editor at Inverse covering virtual reality, augmented reality, and wearables, and before that he worked with The Verge as part of the inaugural class of Vox Media's Fellowship Program. Ian's work has also appeared at Pocket-lint, Android Police, and dot.LA. When he's not writing, you can typically find Ian at his favorite movie theater or endlessly starting and not finishing video games.
Education
Ian attended Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, where he received a Bachelor of the Arts in Screenwriting, and a minor in Psychology.
The unique content on Engadget is a result of skilled collaboration between writers and editors with broad journalistic, academic, and practical expertise.
